IBA Health and Life Assurance Company, IBA Self Funded Group, Inc. and Physicians Health Plan of Southwest Michigan joined forces in March, 1998. In 2006 IBA Health Plans was purchased by UnitedHealthcare. Today, our organization serves over 80,000 members and 1,000 employer groups in our fully insured and self-funded products.

IBA Health Plans Acquired by UnitedHealthcare

We are pleased to announce that IBA Health Plans (IBA) is now a UnitedHealthcare Company! This transaction furthers the efforts of both companies to make health care services more affordable, more available and easier to use for people nationwide.

This transaction joins two highly complementary organizations, combining national expertise with local service, and advancing UnitedHealthcare's presence in Southwest Michigan. IBA customers will benefit from UnitedHealthcare's national network, consumer product innovations, excellent service, technology applications and business services in the markets served by IBA in the Southwest Michigan area.

There will be no immediate changes in process, structure, products or pricing. As we begin the process of combining the two companies, our goal is to blend the best of both businesses to make a broad range of health care services more available and affordable. As always, we will work closely with our brokers, consultants, providers and customers, and you should expect frequent communication, as necessary, from us. For now it is business as usual. We value our relationship with you, and as such will work closely with you to deliver the same high quality service you expect.
