IBA Information

IBA Health and Life Assurance Company was formed in 1967 to offer health insurance policy options to the small-group business market in Michigan. It was one of the first companies to provide Preferred Provider Organization coverage in Southwest Michigan. In 2006, IBA was purchased by UnitedHealthcare. Today, IBA offers PPO and Indemnity coverage to over 1000 businesses with more than 32,000 members.

IBA Self Funded Group Information

In 1983, IBA launched the IBA Self Funded Group - a third party administrator - as a healthcare financing option for employers wishing to self fund their benefit plans. In 1995, IBA Self Funded Group purchased Custom Benefits, another local third party administrator. IBA Self Funded Group was purchased by UnitedHealthcare in 2006. IBA administers self funded plans for approximately 30 businesses with more than 20,000 total members.

PHP Information

Physicians Health Plan of Southwest Michigan (PHP), began operation in 1984. PHP provides Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) coverage to a small group of businesses in Southwest Michigan. PHP products will be discontinued in November of 2006.
